August is very self-conciouse about him (1).
Via stands up for August and goes a bit to far (3)
he doesn't want to go to school because he thinks no one will be his friend (12 and 13).
His dad is the only person who will make him laugh even when he doesn't want to (13).
August finally wants to go to school because I think he wants to prove to Julian that he is smart and can do the science class (32).
Julian is starting to pick on August and I think he is going to start to regret coming to school(44).
August likes to have flashbacks because he has had a lot so far (57).
I think August cut off his braid because Julian was being mean to him and didn't want to get picked on any more (57)
August has a lot of classes with Jack and they are becoming good friends because Jack is making jocks about him and they are both laughing (64).
( this is a continued one of the one above)
Adding on to the one before Jack is making jokes of August's craggy face and he isn't getting offended because he knows Jack isn't trying to hurt him (64).
The kids in the school made a cheese touch type thing about him and August is getting offended(72).
August is ashamed of his face and he wishes every day was Halloween so he could wear a mask and be happy (73).
Via likes to be called Olivia and she doesn't always want to defined as a girl who has a deformed brother. She doesn't like people knowing about her brother. That is why she likes high school because barely anybody knows her (91).
Via is very worried about August and his children because she is doing all the science toward it (105).
Augusts mom will do anything for August (110).
Via and Miranda still want to be friends they just don't show it. I think they will end up being friends again (119).
Jack Will is glib, for he acted like he was August friend and turned his back on him (129).
Every section is a different characters perspective about their experience with August. I think one of them is going to be in Julian's perspective (144).
Jack just realized what he did to August and he really regrets it and I think that they are going to be friends again. Also that Jack really hates Julian because he makes fun of August and that is why he punched him (168).
Jack's friends are skittering away from him every time they see him because he is hanging out with August (174).
People are never lucid around August because people see him as different (174).
There is no correct grammar when it was Justin's point of view (187).
Justins part isn't correct grammar and that shows that he doesn't use grammar (190).
The author shows some writing in text and email form to show how the characters are just like us and use everything we do.
In addition, I realized the author misspells words in the texting to show how the kids don't know how to spell everything correctly (166).
I think that Julian's mom has seen august before because she is the one who is really making his appearance at the school a big deal (171).
I realized how August is really good at ignoring people who are mean to him and pretending like they don't exist. I wouldn't be able to do this as good as he does (178).
I think that Via will start to like Jack more because of how he treats Auggie (182).
I realized how the author has Justin have lowercase i's probably to show how he is sort of a peaceful and chilled person (188).
I realized Justin is a very observant person and sees every little detail about people (191).
Julian has no lament, for he doesn't show one bit of sorrow for what he is doing to August and Jack (211).
I think that Auggie is now able to joke around with people because he makes his face something people don't get scared at, but laugh along at jokes about his face. It makes the face seem not a part of Auggie.
In the beginning of the book Auggie went to school and after the first day or two he was lament and he regret ever going to school or even think about it. Then he went back and he started to like it again even though Julian was being mean to Jack and him.
No Auggie is less stressful because he realized that everything that happened on and out of school was totally normal (215).
It's supposed to be Now and in
Auggie wants everybody to be equal (231).
The author is writing about everybody's point of view in the story. I think he is doing this to show everybody's point of view on Auggie and everything else (236).
Miranda feels like Auggie is her little brother because she did so many good things to him and I think if Via ever found out, she would be upset because Auggie is her little brother not Miranda's (136).
That's also when she changed. I think she kept the changes after she came back to school to see if it would make her popular in school not just camp (237).
Miranda didn't wan to call Via because she wanted someone to be positive about her changes (237).
Auggie left baboo at home and I think that he is trying to man up. That shows he wants to move on with his life (256).
Auggie always refers to the phrase "like a lamb in the slaughter" and I think they author does that to show a significance for it (274).
The authors message is to be kinder than is necessary because Jack was and he made a very good friend because of it (300).
The authors message is to be kind more than necessary because Jack did that and he got a really good friend out of it (300).
I sent it twice whoops
Auggie on Halloween was incognito because he had a mask on and I thin that he was happy he was wearing it, for he doesn't like his face (73).

August is getting closer with people in the school
Most times when people say something about someone else it causes problems later. When people say things about other people behind their backs, sometimes the person finds out and becomes mad at the other person. And in my book, this issue ruins a friendship that used to be strong, and close together. The friendship comes back together, but after a long time and a lot of arguing and fighting for sides. In my book Wonder by Patricia Palacio, One of the important characters, Jack, ruins a friendship by talking about one of his best friends. Later on his best friend August, finds out and a huge conflict between August and Jack arise because of what Jack had said, behind August’s back, without knowing August heard. Palacio proves that one small problem turns into a greater problem.
In my book (Wonder) by Patricia Palacio , The character Jack, Talks about his friend behind his back and starts a problem. “Yea, He told me to become more friendly to him. Technically i’m not really his friend”(56). This is a quote from Jack. This is also the quote the August overheard, which is about him. This quote is explaining how Jack betrayed August and how he is ok with talking about it with two others of his friends. Jack became good friends with August and since August heard Jack say that about him, he instantly becomes mad at Jack and doesn't want to speak to him. This is the part in the theory where the “small problem” begins to occur.
The second part of the theory is when a big problem arises out of what that smaller problem that jack caused to August earlier.”Jack… That doesn't mean you use physical violence on other students, no matter what they do”(78). This is a quote where Jack's mother is telling him what he did wrong to another kid. Jack punched another kid for talking about the troubles between him and August, which wouldn't of happened if Jack was not talking about August without him knowing in the first place. This is a big event in the book, because for punching that kid, Jack got suspended from school. This action shows a bigger problem out of what would have happened if none of this had started. This is one of the greater problems that could start from a small one, not meaning to cause, the bigger problem.
In the last two paragraphs the statement was broken down into two separate parts. to prove the statement. In the first paragraph there was the scene when and where the “small” problem was to occur and how it can cause a greater problem later on in the rest of the story. In the second paragraph, That was the part where the greater problem started to occur, from and based on the first problem that had happened, Showing that, the characters had no clue that the second problem would occur, so they went about making the first problem go on and started to speak about the second problem when it had a play in the story. This essay proves that a Smaller problem turns into a greater problem.
Via is very protective, "one time in the playground some older kids made some noises. I don't even know what the noises were exactly because I didn't hear them myself, but Via heard and she just started yelling at the kids." (3)
August is very scared about going to school. He knows he is ready but he doesn't want to go.
'"Everyone will stare at me at school. I said, suddenly crying." This quote shows that August is scared about school and why.
August is brave because he is scared about going to school, but he knows he is ready. "He's the principal of my new school."(14)
August is scared about meeting new kids at his school, "I was about to say something else, but then all of a sudden I head other voices outside the office: kids' voices. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but my heart literally started beating like I'd just run the longest race in the world." (20)
August gets embarrassed a lot during school when the attention is on him. "I nodded, not looking up because what I really wanted was to just slide under the desk." (43). This shows that August is embarrassed.
August enjoys school, even though people may stare at him. "I suddenly realized that I was going to like school. No matter what." (48).
Summer is a kind person. She left her table at lunch to go sit with August. (51).
August is a kind person because he wants to invite everyone in his homeroom plus Summer to his Birthday party. He doesn't want to leave anyone out. He even invites Julian, who was rude to him. (66)
Julian is a very rude person. He insults August without knowing August heard, and August feels like he never wants to go back to school again.
I think that Jack Will didn't mean what he said about August and will apologize. He made August not want to go to school ever again. (80)
Summer doesn't care about what August looks like, she knows he is a kind person and she becomes friends with him. (120)
Julian is a mean person. He calls August a zombie. (122)

Justin is surprised about Miranda knowing Olivia. (201)
August is very upset about her dog dying. (225)
Miranda didn't perform in the play, so Via did. (232)
I think Miranda didn't perform because she saw Via's family and wanted her to preform. (244)
I think that Via and Miranda will become friends again. (248)
I think that August will like the nature retreat, even though he is scared to go. (253)
People in August's grade are starting to ignore the way he looks and are becoming friends with him. (268)
August has good friends that would stick up for him.
August enjoyed going to Beecher Prep and will go again next year. (287)
Everyone wants to be friends with August now because they finally realized that he is a good person and friend. (308)
August loved school. "Thank you for making me go to school" (309)
In the book Wonder by R.J Palacio, the main character August was born with a facial deformity. He was homeschooled all his life, but for the first time after a well thought out decision, he enters the fifth grade at Beecher Prep middle school. He is scared because he knows everyone will stare at him. Over the summer, he gets a tour of the school by three students. One of them turns out to be August’s best friend in school. Another one turns out to bully him. The person who bullies him, Julian only bullies him because of the way August looks. Besides looking different on the outside, on the inside, he is like every other person. Palacio uses August’s physical appearance to show the contrast between outside and inside.
People are usually rude to August if they don’t know him. They look at what he is on the outside, and ignore what he is on the inside. On the inside, August is a good friend, and a amiable, funny person. When people look at him, they see someone different from everyone else, they only see the outside. In the book, people always are rude to August.“‘Oh that kid?’ said Jamie, his eyes opening wide. ‘He gave me a nightmare!! Remember Mommy? That nightmare about the zombies from last year?”’(140) “But if a little kid like Jamie, who’s usually a nice enough kid, can be that mean, then a kid like August doesn’t stand a chance in middle school.”(141) This quote shows that people are rude towards someone that isn't like everyone else. This is what Palacio tries to prove throughout the book.
August receives many stares and comments people make about him, just because he’s different. August still tries to stay dauntless. He gets a tour of his possible new school and is demure the whole time. “While she was talking, I noticed Julian staring at me out of the corner of his eye. This is something I see people do a lot with me. They think I don’t know they’re staring, but I can tell from the way their heads are tilted.” (27) August never overlooks this. Julian scorches August in the book. He comes up with rude names and says mean things about August.“‘What’s the deal with your face? I mean, were you in a fire or something?”’(29) This is an example of how Palacio uses August’s physical appearance to show the contrast between outside and inside. Many people, such as Julian only look at the outside of a person. They don’t go by the saying, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. The author uses August to show this throughout the book.
The author demonstrates the difference between outside and inside using August’s appearance by having him write in a section of the book about his thoughts, like she did with some of the other characters. These examples show how rude a person can be, just by looking at someone. This happens when Jamie describes him meanly, and when Julian bullies August. People look at a person’s appearance instead of who they truly are.
