My prediction was correct. Grace's dad is the one who punched Sam. I found this out because when the author changed out of Cole's perspective and changed into Sam's perspective, Sam says it was Lewis Brisbane who punches him in the face. Lewis Brisbane is the name of Grace's father. (343)
