Page 1 - 15 , Greg is starting to not hang out with his friend Rowley because of Rowley's new girlfriend Abigail who is driving a wedge between the 2 friendship. Abigail is even changing Rowley so much he starts to become a different person. I think this girl has some issues with greg and it would be awhile until Greg and Rowley become friends again
page 23 -31 Greg still hangs-out with Rowley but just barely but when Abigail moves to their table , but soon she gets disgusted at the guys using the Five - second rule and the guys fighting over fries. So she takes Rowley and brings him to the couples table. Now the guys friendship is 100% over and they might not be friends anymore.
page 50-56 The school has a new theme to stop bullying. if a teacher sees someone doing a good deed the get a ticket to hand in to get extra recess ad the homeroom with the most get a day off of school. A kid was able to get his hand on a sheet to then print tickets for money. So the school keep changing the color of the paper the tickets were on until a janitor found one of the first groups using an old science room as their base so the thing was canceled. So it shows how some people only do good for the reward
This is a very humorous book and a great addition to the series. But Jeff faces trouble when Riley's first girlfriend starts to disapprove of their relationship.
I think you made a mistake with names. Greg and Rowley, not "Jeff" and "Rowley."
I meant "Riley"
I think that Greg Heffley is a complete disaster because he depends on a "Magic 8 ball" to get him through many things throughout this story. I also thought it also was weird how Greg is putting some sort of blanket underneath his clothing, and soon he has trouble over how he can't really move in Phys-Ed. I also find how the teacher calls the Magic 8 ball a "High-tech Cheating Device." I find this story very weird, along with very, very awkward of smart decision making.
page 57 - 75 , Greg and his mom goes cloth shopping to and Greg bought these new shoes which were pretty cool. he spent a least an hour trying to get to school without messing up his shoes but he came in 20 ,minutes late during a pop quiz. He then found out he stepped in dog poop on they way to school so after the quiz he went to the lost and found but the only shoes there were from a teacher with clown feet. So without Rowley watching out for him he can't do anything for himself
I think you're putting in too much detail, so that the reader of your comments is being spoiled right now.
page 76-88 Greg thought by making friends with a guy named Fregley he could mold him into the perfect friend and use him as a funny sidekick. Then on his debut perfomance he shows how he is able tho chew bubble gum with his belly button an things backfired for him. This shows how nothing can go as plan
Page 88 - 118
Greg wishes to have a spring break to just relax but he found out that his mom's family is coming to town. After one Easter they fought over where their famliy ring is and who should have it. They had never talked ever since. The part of Greg's family is tempted by greed
I think that other things in life don't really work for certain people. That's what everybody should know. But it seems like Greg is not quite as well interested/aware of that.
I also think that there is no other fate of which happens for him. greg often is telling the reader how bad his life is, like his ruined friendship of rowley, even when Greg himself was causing a lot of problems. I think that he doesn't know how to handle a friend.
I think it is a little bit weird that manny is making friends despite the fact that manny has not said a word to that person before.
Its unbelievable how Fregly does not know how to act in front of other kids, for some reason he thinks eating a chip out of somebody's hands is ok.
There is no reason why a school should start a free hugs group. That had to be there last option to create a group because there is no way that that was the first thing that popped into their head.
Greg's family doesn't seem like the fight for the ring last time did not exist until one of Greg's uncle sees that the ring might be in an Easter egg. They go crazy for the egg and Greg even looks threw his grandmother's underwear drawer. This shows how even after the recover they still care about greed.
page 138-145 Greg finds a magic 8 ball and decides that it is something that will decides all of his decisions from now on. This shows how if they see a simlairy thing appers on the box it is automaticly correct
page 146 - 160 Greg s mom wants Greg to go outside. He hides in his parnets closet. He finds books that what helped his mom with pareneting over the years. But after a while his mom went back upstairs so he snuck out before he was caught. This shows how some people have secrets that need to not be know.
I find it disgusting how kids would pay a dollar to smell a somebody's breath just because he or she had a burger from a fast food restaurant.
Its very sad to see that Rowley is very shocked that he found his girlfriend feeding another boy pudding, it just shows that the girl was using him and that really hurts.
Greg is very overprotective about his new shoes, I know they are new but you should not walk around with plastic bags on your feet that seems very unnecessary.
page 160 - 165 Greg decides to use reverse psychology to get his parents to buy him a phone. His mom gives him her old phone but he has to share with his little brother. One day he gets a video call from his aunt when he was in the bathroom and he drops it in the tolielt bowl. So even when he warned his parents that he isn't ready for the resbonsibltys lf a phone , they didn't listen
Greg decides to join a school club. He decides to use the magic eight ball to decides until it says yes to the yearbook club. He ask to join and they said yes. Greg takes pictures but needs to edit them , which might cause him some trouble in the end. Greg now sees how powerful it is to be in the yearbook club
It is not bad how Greg's mom gets his shoes by going to the clearance section, if that is all she can afford then that is all she can afford
Its weird how Rowleys girlfriend is now hypnotizing him, now his decisions turn into their decisions. Like going to the movies he would have gone but his girlfriend did not want to.
Its mean how after Greg gets his new shoes, he cant sit behind somebody without washing them every two minutes.
page 174 - 180
Greg finds his body blanket and remembers how comfortable it was to wear. But after sleeping during church he and his brother lost them.
Page 181 - 186
Greg some how sneaks his body blanket to school but after trying to take off the zipper breaks off.
Greg is taking a quiz but due to the body blanket it's hard for him to move. He starts to use the magic eight ball but it slips out of his hands. His teacher sends him to the princapal's office for having a high tech cheating device. i think that Greg should think about his plans more then once.
page 186 - 189 Greg's mom goes to the school to explain that it was just a toy. The principal pulls up Greg's records and if he doesn't improve his grade he will go to summer school. So even getting off the hook he has to play catch up with his work.
page 189 -192
Greg's mom gives Greg help with all of his old homework but his science project , he has to do himself. S o know greg is trying to dig himself out of the hole he duged himself into
Its sad how some kids that can't get to lunch quickly don't even have a place to sit, the only place they have is next to the garbage can.
Now that Rowley has a girl friend having a sleepover at Greg's house turns into talking on the phone with his girlfriend all day. If I was Greg I would just kick him out
Its cool how even at their old ages Greg's Grandma an Grandpa still participate in the Easter egg hunt. And they are still good at it too.
1.Why didn't Rowley listen to Greg in the first place I bet you he is regretting that he did not listen to Greg.
2. Now that Rowley's girlfriend broke up with him I wonder how he is going to make it back up to Greg.
3. Its amazing how Rowley's girlfriend completly changed him she effected his decisions and even when he was at Greg's house she would change him. They would just text the whole night and Rowley would not say a word.
In the book Diary of a wimpy kid : Hard Luck Greg is making decision on what to do without a friend to help him. But his plans always fail due to his own ego. If he does anything to get another friend , that person will leave him . If he wants to go to school with his new sneakers, he messes them up. It’s almost as if Greg’s own decisions are going to always end up hurting him. Even if the idea seems good and would help him , he somehow would find a way to mess up his own plans . If thought more about the details of his plans before hand , they might work out in the end.
One moment in the book Greg gets a brand new pair of sneakers. He wants to wear them to school to become cool. But on his route to school, but the entire sidewalk has mud and a lot of other junk. So for awhile he tried to maneuver around the different hazards to his shoes. He then goes back home to get grocery bags to protect his feet but the bottom of the bags ripped. So after a while he gave up and walked on the grass due to the difficult of the task. By the time he gets to school he was twenty minutes late during a pop quiz. He smells something disgusting during the quiz and moves to the desk in the back. But the smell had followed him and he realized he step on dog poop. He ask the teacher about the situation but she just gives him a bag. He later goes the lost and found to find a pair of shoes but he can’t find any. So a teacher came with his spare pair of shoes , but they were gigantic. If i was Greg i would of put on an older pair of shoes and use the grocery bags to hold the new pair. Then i would go into the bathroom to make a switch for the new pair. But Greg was so ignorant he couldn’t think of a better way to get to school on time without ruining his new sneakers.
Later in the book he discover his old Body Blankie which was in his mom’s closet. He really wants to wear it , but if he wears it in the house , his mom will know he was in her closet . The only place he could wear it was in bed but there would be no purpose using it just as a blanket. So he created a plan to wear it in school by putting it under his clothing. The problem was that it was hard to walk in and the mittens made it hard to open his locker. Also during gym he couldn’t move at all and when his footsie was filled with sweat he decide it was time to change out of it. But the zipper broke and he was stuck in the Body Blankie . He started to panic but he calmed down and decided to go to his last few classes to then cut himself free. There was a test during his last period and it was a true and false. So he uses his “ magic” eight ball. But his fingers slips and it rolls to the teacher’s desk . Greg is sent to the vice principal's office because his teacher thought he was using a “ high tech cheating device”. But Greg’s mom told her that it was just a harmless toy. For one thing how did people not notice that Greg was wearing a body blankie , his clothes barely covered it. Also it was kind of dumb to do something like that without giving any second thoughts of any flaws.
So with these examples it shows how Greg’s ego is getting in the way of any of his plans actually working. It cause him to literally think that anything he does will end up working out in the end . He might find a easier way out but it will bite him in the butt later. When he creates a plan he doesn’t think about any unknown flaws in his plans and it will be that exact flaw that would make his plans fail. So if it wasn’t for his ego chances are he might of had a few plans which actually out.
Now that Rowley has a girlfriend Greg is getting shut out.
Greg is starting to hang out with Rowley less and less.
Diary Of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck
Jeff Kinney, is an extremely famous author for his New York Times bestselling series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In book number eight risk is a huge part of the book. There are many risks taken in the book, some good most bad. Even though some of the risks taken are stupid and the reward isn’t worth it. Greg (the main character) often risks too much for a reward that isn't as significant. Greg miscalculates the level of risk he should be taking in search of a reward.
One example of this is on pages 71-76 when the Heffley’s are at a waterpark. It was was Greg's turn to watch the family’s valuables (wallets, phones and car keys) while the rest of the family went on waterslides. Greg saw that the line to the biggest waterslide was only 5 minutes. He takes the risk of leaving his family chair with their belongings alone. Then when he returns from the slide his family’s belongings are gone. Then, when his parents return he lies to them and says that a man came and stole them from him. Then, his mom reports it to the security guards. They check the tape and tell her that the belongings were left alone. Then Greg gets grounded for 2 months. This is a big risk that Greg takes in search of a miniscule reward, and it doesn’t pay off.
Another example is on page 104 when Greg decides to steal his moms copy of “Family Monthly” magazine so he wouldn’t have to do a monthly activity with his family. Later that day his mom Susan, finds it in his backpack. At dinner, Susan addresses it with him. Greg plays stupid and acts like he doesn’t know how it got there. Then he blames it on Manny his little brother. Manny declines and Greg gets grounded for an extra month. Greg took to much of a risk because instead of spending one day with his family, he has to spend a month with them. Also, his mom makes him do chores with her. Greg does not see that his risks are too big, and he pays for it.
Lastly, Greg takes his biggest risk in the book. When packing for a road trip on page 33, he disobeys his moms orders and sneaks his gameboy in. Later in the trip this backfires when his mom looks in his bag to get out clothes for the next day and finds it. After addressing with him he plays dumb again saying it must’ve been in there from the last trip. Susan confiscates it and then loses it. Greg pays a big price for something little that could have been prevented.
Greg miscalculates the level of risk he should be taking search of a reward.Even though risk doesn't always pay off, sometimes it is worth it. Risk also leads to reward, Greg just takes takes bigger risks than he should. Without risk there is no reward.
