observation: Clary is very curious. She asks Jace ALOT of questions about him and Shadowhunters, Demons and the underworld (83-88).
hypothesis: Clary is soon going to ask sooo many questions she will find out she is a Shadowhunter. Then she will be like Jace, Alec and Isabella. But who knows if she is a Mundie or a Shadowhunter.
observation: the demon said something about a person named Valentine when it was attacking Clary(52). As well, in Luke's house the people that came in said something about Valentine talking about him in present tense(127).
hypothesis: there have been too many occurrences to think that Valentine is dead. Many people think he is dead but with the Demon and the people in Luke's house it is very obvious that Valentine is alive.
observation: Luke is a type of Demon and he has "nasty" friends that are bad, maybe bad like LUKE. Clary thinks that Luke and his "friends" are the one who killed her father(130).
hypothesis: Clary is a very important person in the Shadowhunter and demon world and so is her mother and father except Clary has no idea that she does. As well, Luke is a bad person aka demon who killed her father and was the one who sent the demon to kill Clary's mom.
observation: Clary is DEFINITELY a shadow hunter(most likely), demon, vampire, or faerie. Most likely a shadow hunter, i know this because Jace said this to simon, "You'll be the first mundane who has ever been inside the Institute." This means that CLary is something not a mundane like Simon.
I realized its not Clary's dad that was killed by Pangborn and Blackwell it was Jace's father. As well, they have something to do with Valentine...
Clary is going to be in Valentine's FUTURE at some point. She is going to run into him because her father that she thought died in a car crash, was Valentine (i know, shocker). Why did her mother and Valentine split? Who knows but it might be the reason Clary or Clarissa is being talked about by people such as pangborn and blackwell. Valentine might be out for revenge except on CLARY(146).
As Clary learns more about her "parents" aka Jocelyn, Luke/Lucille and Valentine she is beginning to understand her life more. She is beginning to notice what happened with the demon, why it came and how Luke and Jocelyn met each other. But most importantly, Clary notices her mom is a stranger to her, a liar, a hider of secrets and really not her mom. She doesn't know what other secrets her mom has kept from her(150).
Jace finally knows who killed his father, pangborn and blackwell, there has been A LOT of talk about them in the book so far. I think that there is going to be and incident between jace, pangborn, balckwell and maybe even clary(174-176).
There have been many quotes or important words in italics recently. One of the being, ¨I was laughing at you because declarations of love amuse me, especially when unrequited(193)" This was in italics so that means it is important and should stand out.
Isabelle and Clary are bonding. They are becoming friendlier and friendlier. Clary is wearing Isabelle's clothes, Isabelle's doing her makeup and the big one is Clary asked Isabelle is Alec is gay. Now it's Isabelle and Clary's secret or Clary knowing but Alec doesn't know that Clary knows and Clary can not tell Jace what so ever(end of 207-212).
Clary's mother has ruined her life. She did sooo many things behind Clary's back without her knowing, erasing memories, telling her that her father died in a car crash meanwhile her dad is/was Valentine, etc. Now Clary is talking to the person that was told by Clary's mother to erase her memories. Clary is beginning to hate her mother for the stuff she has done(223-225...).
Clary is starting to learn more about her life and she doesn't even know it. Magnus Bane is telling her about her mother, some of the stuff her took out of her brain, but the one part still missing is the information in the block in her head. Magnus can't retrieve the information and he doesn't remember almost all of it. The most important part is still missing(215-244...).
When at Magnus' party Simon drinks something that is meant for fairies not mundanes aka humans. In result of that Simon turns into a rat and Clary knows if she doesn't get Simon she will not be happy. Being a strong influential and determined character Clary goes after Simon who was brought home by a vampire and the vampires live in a very scary place. Clary still goes after him and this shows how much Clary needs Simon and who she is as a character(237-282...).
In return for Clary, Simon helps her escape from the werewolves. She has no idea why but the werewolves want her. Simon sneaks away from her but he found a door, so Jace, Clary and Simon all escape. I haven't read on passed that yet but it is obvious that we are hitting the climax and we will have a lot in store for is in the upcoming pages/ chapters in the book(...284-285...)
Simon is not a rat anymore he turned back! But that is not the most important moment, Jace now feels like a thrown away piece of garbage that was stomped on in the dust. Since Simon is back he is caring for Clary and Jace has gone through so much with Clary and has helped her and I think "likes" her he is just very, very upset about what he is seeing(294).
Alec does not like Clary. He definetly has something against her. First, he tells her she has to go and then he blames everything on Clary for what happened to Jace and Simon. He's insisting she goes home. But why and who told him to tell her this(289-300...)
Alec and Clary had a "little"argument. He told her to leave... So CLary got all worked up and said to him, "You can rant all you want about honor and honesty and how mundanes don't have any either, but if you were honest, you'd admit this tantrum is just because you're in love with him. It doesn't have anything to do with--" Clary just went too far, she told Alec that he is in love with Jace. Meanwhile, Clary isn't supposed to know Alec's secret. Uhhohh(300).
On Friday, we discussed points of view. I first said that my book was third person limited because I thought the narrator only told the story out of Clary's point of view. Now I realize that the book is third person omniscient. This book has three sections, now I realize that each section is told through a different characters view. For instance, the third part of the book is told through Luke's point of view. When Luke is talking or telling a story it always says "I" even if he isn't talking(389-409...).
Luke has a lot of eloquence when he talks or tells a story to people. No matter if he is defending himself or just talking and trying to persuade someone to come his way I feel like I should always be on Luke's side because he says the right things and does the right things(most of the time). (the third part of the book, p385-426...).
THIS IS THE ELOQUENCE ONE!!!
Clary is a vicious, strong shadow hunter. She is strong and knows what to do in a crazy battle or something she shouldn't see. The author, Cassandra Clare, is a great raconteur. She makes the story so interesting and fascinating. It is always up beat and fast pace(the whole book).
Tonight Clary is going to find out something big, except I dont know what it is. As Clary and the werewolves traverse through Renwicks there is a mood and tone in the book signifying something big is going to happen(414-441...).
i just finished the book, I realized that Clary is a out going determined character. She will never stop doing what she is doing. Once she starts a task she has to finish it, she can't stop. As well, Clary matured throught the book. Dhe became more independent and skillful. She truly found out who she was aka a shadow hunter and took that as starting a new life. Finding her way into the mix of the shadow world and becoming a huge part of the book. Clary creates the story and fulfills the potential the book has (the whole book).
"'Meanwhile,' Simon added, 'I've been cross-dressing. Also, I've been sleeping with your mom. I thought you should know.'" (5) Simon's hilarious. He always tries to get Clary's attention by saying something funny, and most of the time it works. You never know what he's going to say next.
"As she hugged Simon, Clary noticed Jace look away, as if the sun were hurting his eyes." (102) I think that Jace was looking away because he liked Clary. He couldn't bear to watch her hug Simon and tell him that she would never leave him behind when she barely even spoke to Jace.
"Jace leaned in to kiss her once again when the door swung open and Simon walked out into the hall." (144) I think that Clary has really gotten herself into a magnitude of trouble because I think that Simon is secretly in love with Clary but she clearly loves Jace. But she cares about the both of them deeply, so she is going to be hurting one of them greatly by choosing the other.
Project Eloquence Word^
"The creature's flesh was livid and bruised-looking. [Its bones were] black and cracked and filthy... Its face was a skull, its nose and eyes caved-in holes." (167) Someone is definitely going to get hurt. A creature that intimidating can't just appear and get disposed of without some sort of downside, especially since we have reached the climax of the story.
"Simon stood in the doorway, Alec's bow clutched in his hand so tightly that his knuckles turned white." (171) I admire Simon. Even after Clary treated him like garbage and he absolutely hated Jace, Isabelle and Alec, he has enough audacity and assiduousness to do something as drastic as killing a Greater Demon so that he can help them achieve something that doesn't affect him anymore.
Project Eloquence Words^
"'Jocelyn is your mother, Jonathan. And Clary- Clary is your sister.'" (213) This is extremely unexpected, especially after Clary and Jace confessed that they loved each other. The very last thing you would expect is for them to be SIBLINGS.
"She held on tightly as he angled the cycle up, gunning it so that it shot forward and up the side of the bridge like a bird freed from a cage." (249) I think that this is a simile. As Clary and Jace know that they can't change what had happened, but they can just move forward in the right direction- 'like a bird freed from a cage'.
1. I think that Clary's mom is secretly a shadow hunter because why else would her mom be secretly disappointing all the time its not like they are rich and she can go on vacations all the time and she does not have a job.
2. I think Clary has just gotten her self into big trouble she has stumbled on a murder that no one else has seen. I think that the murders will kidnap her so she won't tell about it.
3. Clary is super brave to be going with Jace into the portal i would run and hide if I where her.
